Mike Kuehne was a graduate of Craig High School, serving four years in the United States Navy after graduation. After the navy, Mike attended the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater where he received a degree in elementary education and he began his professional teaching career as a fifth grade teacher at Milton East Elementary School. Mike continued his college studies receiving a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 1983. Dr. Kuehne received his first principalship in the Beloit Turner School District in 1984. After five years as the principal of Townview Elementary School Dr. Kuehne became the principal of Wilson Elementary School in Janesville. Mike continued his graduate studies and he received his Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Administration from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 1996. Dr. Kuehne became the principal of Marshall Middle School for the 1996/97 school year and had the honor of opening the "New Marshall Middle School" at 25 South Pontiac in January 1997. Dr. Kuehne served the Janesville School District as the Director of Instruction for two years and then he was appointed the principal of Craig High School beginning with the 2005/6 school year. When asked about his different teaching and administrative positions Dr. Kuehne gladly states that he has enjoyed every opportunity he has had in education, but finds the energy and activities at the high school one of his most enjoyable experiences as a professional educator.
