Graduation Information

Class of 2018

Important Information Regarding Graduation

  • Craig will graduate on Thursday, June 7th at 7:00 p.m. at Monterey Stadium, weather permitting. Your family does NOT need tickets to attend the ceremony at Monterey. Seating is first come, first served. Gates will open at 5:15 p.m.
  • If the weather doesn't cooperate, we will move indoors. The ceremony will be held in Craig's Main Gym. You must present tickets for an indoor graduation. Each student received six tickets to distribute to family and friends. You and your guests will need the physical tickets at the door. Just like at Monterey - seating is first come, first served. Gates will open at 5:15 p.m.
  • If we have an indoor ceremony, overflow seating will be available in the Large Auditorium. Guests can watch the ceremony broadcast in real-time in the auditorium. Overflow seating can be especially helpful for guests with mobility issues and/or those with young children. No tickets are required for overflow seating.
  • I will make the decision about whether the ceremony will be held indoors or outdoors early the morning of graduation. Students and families will be notified via Infinite Campus, and the local media will be informed. Keep your fingers crossed with me that the weather is beautiful!
  • All graduates are expected to participate in a mandatory rehearsal to take place at 12:00 p.m the day of graduation. We rehearse in whichever location at which the ceremony will be held. So, outdoor ceremony - rehearse at Monterey; indoor ceremony - rehearse in the gym.
  • A final social gathering for seniors will take place right before our rehearsal. A breakfast will be served, beginning at 10:30 a.m. This is an optional event. The food will be served at the rehearsal site (either Monterey or the gymnasium). All seniors are welcome! They might consider bringing their yearbooks to get some classmates' signatures.
  • Seniors need to complete their sign-out sheets and turn them in by the end of the school day on Monday, June 4th in order to walk in the graduation ceremony. Students received the forms during I-Block on Tuesday. Extra copies are available, if needed, in the Assistant Principals' Office.
  • If you or someone in your family needs special accommodations (handicap seating or a sign language interpreter), call Judy Crook, Assistant Principals' Secretary, as soon as possible at 608-743-5262.
  • The ceremony lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours.
  • Senior Bash will take place at Craig High School in the cafeteria, following the ceremony from 10:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. This event music/dancing and offers a safe, drug and alcohol-free destination for seniors after graduation.
  • A DVD of the ceremony will be available for purchase from Videogenics. You can pre-order a copy now, purchase one at the door, or even call after the ceremony. Videogenics phone number is 608-290-1177.
  • Professional photographs will be taken of all the graduates as they shake my hand on stage and, again, at the bottom of the ramp. You can purchase these pictures from Empire Photography. They will send you ordering information through email. If you need to contact them for any reason, their phone number is 608-257-2941.
  • Copies of the Senior Class Picture are available for purchase. Contact Newspaper Advisor Dave Holmquist for ordering information at
  • You might want to consider taking your child's gown from the bag and hanging it up to let out the wrinkles. The bathroom is a great spot to do this - the steam from the shower helps with the wrinkles. If you choose to iron the gown, be sure to use a very low-heat or no-heat setting.
  • Seniors are not to decorate their caps and are only allowed to wear Craig-approved honor cords.
  • Families who are interested in donating their caps and/or gowns back to Craig for us to distribute to students who have financial need in future years can do so the night of graduation (there will be marked boxes at the exits) or bring them to the Main Office at Craig during summer months. My secretary and I work during regular business hours.
  • Honor cords have been distributed to military grads. If you have a son/daughter who is joining the military and he/she did NOT get cords, contact Dr. Bjoin right away.
  • If your child does not have a cap or gown for any reason, call Jolene Hess in the Assistant Principals' Office at 608-743-5264 immediately to make arrangements.
  • Your child's full, legal name will be announced at the graduation ceremony. We use the name which appears on his/her birth certificate, as the diploma needs to match the birth certificate. If there is any concern about the name we will announce, contact Dr. Bjoin immediately.
  • Please do what you can to help us keep your child focused on finishing strong. Academics and attendance continue to be important. Behavior also matters. Students can be pulled from the ceremony right up until the event due to poor behavioral choices. We wouldn't want that for them or you.
  • After graduation, when social calendars are full of grad parties, please take time to talk with your graduate about safety, especially drinking and driving. We know you worry about them. We do, too.
  • Enjoy this important milestone with your child and the evening with your family!

Dr. Alison Bjoin, Principal
